Scope and Contents

Summary: Files pertaining to the Agreement Between Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey and Rutgers Council of the American Association of University Professors Chapter, 1975-1977. Topics include salaries and merit pay, grievance procedures, negotiability, benefits, teaching assistants and graduate assistants, workload, reduction in faculty due to financial exigency, affirmative action, co-adjunct faculty, fact-finding on economic matters, academic and calendar year faculty appointments, university governance, reappointment and promotion procedures, the relationship between the university and the state government, and personnel files. Material types consist of correspondence and memoranda, minutes, fact-finding documents, surveys and results, PERC documents, memoranda of agreement, proposals, press releases, articles, and a contract.

This series contains some of the earliest material relating to graduate student bargaining topics, including material from the 1972-1975 contract.
