Scope and Contents

Includes memorandums and correspondence pertaining to construction details, the development of the Political Science, Economics and Sociology departments, NIMH site visits, furniture concerns, the possibility of African languages being offered, the 1969-1970 asking budget and funding for the 1969 pre-college program. A summary of the 1968-1969 anticipated financial aid situation and the minutes of the preliminary meeting of the Acting Committee on College Government and Rules of Procedure are included. A letter to Dean Earle Clifford requests that the university protest against the induction of Professor Struyle into the Armed Forces, and letters to The Atlantic Monthly reviewing articles by Pettigriew and Poirier are also included. The recruitment of faculty (positions offered, positions accepted, positions not accepted, positions desired, etc.) is covered and confidential evaluations of candidates are requested, with thank you notes acknowledging their arrival.
