Letters of recruitment to possible faculty members and letters turning down those interested in a faculty position can be found amid correspondence requesting confidential evaluations of candidates and letters thanking sources for their evaluations. Other subjects covered in correspondence and memorandums are position offers and acceptances, the naming of the first Livingston College building (Paul Tillett), the budget for Livingston II construction, the transfer of funds, the Fund for the Advancement of Education, account expenses and a summary of correspondence regarding the Linguistics Department. At this point, Lynton explains that Livingston College has four departments in Chinese, Computer Science, City and Regional Planning, and Anthropology.
