Dates

Scope and Contents

Summary: As its name implies, the National Association of College and University Chaplains was an organization for members of the clergy who work at higher education institutions. Abernethy was also active within this organization, serving as its president in 1947-1948. He also ran its relatively short-lived Information Service which sought to match members of the clegy who were interested in working at a college or university with such an institution. The majority of the files in this series pertain to the NACUC conferences. Some contain information about clergy members and universities using the Information Service. (Note that the majority of the personal data forms were sent to Yale University for inclusion in its NACUC collection. See Separated Material section above.) Although some of the folders are labeled speech material, no speech is included in these folders, nor is there an indication of what the speech may have been.
