Part II: Pages 1-5

Scope and Contents

Hand-written sheet music by William L. Russel and Paul Reif (the handwriting matches Kindre's, but no mention is made of who indeed copied the music). The song is entitled "Dirty Gertie from Bizerte," apparently an Army bunker-type tune sung by the men. Another sheet (page 2) is a list of 33 movies assumed to have been seen by Kindre during his tour of duty. Some of these films are referred to throughout his diary. Since his entries are limited to approximately a year of service, many movies (and other recreational activities) may have been seen either before or after the mid 1943-mid 1944 period. Lastly, Kindre constructed 3 pages of calendars, in which he notes many significant events of his tour, and other duties and areas to which he traveled. Such source will be helpful in filling in missing gaps of Kindre's services. However, note that the last entry on the calendar was made on June 11, 1944. His tour began June 15, 1942, and ended on December 24, 1945.
