Scope and Contents
Summary: This series chronicles Dr. Agger's work on various housing boards and authorities in the New Brunswick area and includes the following. Minutes of Housing Authority meeting, correspondence regarding property values and Authority business. Correspondence regarding landscaping and construction of Robeson Village, the first public Negro housing project. Dr. Agger's remarks at the dedication of the village, and newspaper clippings on the dedication ceremony. The public works proposal of the housing project, original blueprints for the project, status updates, costs, material, and progress reports.
Correspondence concerning migrant workers and their housing situation, reports to the committee on health and housing regarding the migrant labor camps in New Jersey.
Reports to the housing committee of the New Jersey Welfare Council on existing housing conditions in New Jersey. Receipts of donations, minutes of meetings and correspondence regarding Dr. Agger's membership on the committee. He wanted to introduce urban renewal and plans for better housing conditions. Also, a list of housing authorities in New Jersey and their directors' addresses.
Letters regarding Dr. Agger's appointment to the Rent Advisory Board and later, his resignation from the board. Letters regarding meetings from the national office in Washington, DC. Copies of rent control laws and proposed changes to housing legislation in New Jersey. Notices to actual changes in the housing laws. Newsletter "What's New in Housing". Forms for the landlords, a handbook for the advisory board, regulations for landlord/tenant hearings. Operating rules and regulations for the board itself.
Papers for the State Youth Conference on recommendations and drafts of proposed policy on juvenile delinquency solutions in terms of the housing situation and community development in New Brunswick. Also, an agenda and schedule of the conference proceedings.
