Dates
- 1911-1987
Scope and Contents
Summary: The records in this series offer a nice glimpse into Vertrees' life outside of Rutgers and his career in industrial relations. Included among these records are clippings listing Vertrees' involvement with various baseball teams where he was the pitcher. Other valuable artifacts in this series include official teaching contracts signed by Vertrees, and clippings detailing Vertrees' involvement in his church. In one of the church bulletins Vertrees is listed as the principal of the Boyle Centre School which is a part of the St. Louis Daily Vacation Bible School system.
Also contained therein are biographical materials, some of which were written by Vertrees, such as his resume through 1946, and a program from Missouri Valley College where he was honored in 1953. On a more sentimental level, there are two greeting cards, one from Fidelity Union leaders and another from Westinghouse-Newark, wishing Vertrees well in his endeavors.
