Scope and Contents

Summary:The fourth series, Publications (1967-2001) is split up into four sub-series. The files are arranged chronologically and contain mostly correspondence, photos, corrections and notes.

Urban Planning Analysis: Methods and Models (1973) with Arthur Silvers was noted by the APA in 1997 as one of the 39 essential references for any planning department or consulting office. The papers in the collection are mostly corrections and solutions to problems found in the book.

The second and fourth sub-series focuses on two editions of the same book, The American Planner: Biographies and Recollections (1st ed. 1983; 2nd ed. 1994), considered a classic in the field. The first edition collection is mostly correspondence and notes pertaining to specific chapters. The second edition collection is also mostly correspondence between Krueckeberg and other scholars to gain permission to include portions of their work in the new edition. The American Planner was a labor of love and it was appreciated: it was met with good reviews and was nominated for the Lewis Mumford Prize, which goes to the writer of the best book on American city and regional planning history.

The third sub-series is also related to The American Planner. The book is a collection of the history of the urban planning field. As such, Krueckeberg had an extensive collection of obituaries and resources about the important figures in the field.
