Scope and Contents
Summary: Whenever possible, the materials occur in chronological order, oldest to most recent. Certainly, the vast majority (half) of the folders in the entire collection contain materials relevant to Pamela Spence Richards' unflagging service to the library and information science professions, to SCILS, and to the university. Numerous folders document Dr. Richards' continuous efforts to establish international links between United States library and information sciences professionals, in general, and Rutgers SCILS, in particular, and scholars and specialists in the field from the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, Africa, and China. Great amounts of correspondence between Pamela Richards and representatives of international exchange organizations like IREX, CIEE, USIA, CIDEGI (Conseil International pour le développement et l'enseignement de la gestion de l'information), and the International Relations Committee (IRC) of ASIS and VINITI (All-Union Institute of Scientific and Technical Information, U.S.S.R.), the Sarjevo Library, the East African School of Librarianship at Makerere University), the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and The Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China.
