Scope and Contents

Summary: Whenever possible, the materials occur in chronological order, oldest to most recent. The publications and presentations folders include a considerable amount of scholarly writing, both by Pamela Richards and about her work, both in English and in German. Among the materials, one finds three full-length books. Among the Grants and prizes documents one find applications to organizations like the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), and Beta phi Mu (the International Library Science Honor Society). The grouping also contains several awards certificates. The Correspondence folders hold a vast amount of correspondence in English, German, French, and Dutch. These materials include an extended collection of letters, reports, pamphlets, and newspaper clippings dealing with Helen Wessells and the United States Information Libraries in Melbourne, Australia; Wellington, New Zealand; and Cape Town, South Africa. This grouping also contains a photograph/postcard of Helen Wessells and a videotape of an interview with her conducted by Pamela Richards in December, 1980. (3/4 inch U-Matic videotape, prepared by Terry Oughton of the United States International Communication Agency, New Zealand.) The Miscellaneous Scholarly Activity folders contain materials like conference proceedings, documentation of Pamela Richards' Russian Language Studies, a Recommendation Information Form for promotion from Associate to professor, and other people's offprints.
