IV. Post-National Student Convention '88 Student Activism,, 1988-1992

Dates

  • 1988-1992

Scope and Contents

Summary: The National Student Convention '88 gave birth to several new student activist groups. In early March, 1988, very shortly after the National Student Convention '88, student activists at Rutgers formed Student Coalition for University Democracy (S.C.U.D.). However, based on the documentation in this collection, this group was short-lived. The Unity Meeting held at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in July of 1988 took the ideas and ideals of the National Student Convention '88 and formed the Student Action Union (SAU), a national student organization with independent chapters at high school and university campuses across the nation. This series documents the activities of the SAU at Rutgers, as well as Rutgers' involvement with SAU on a national scale.
