I. Rutgers University Sexual Orientation Survey,, 1985-1990

Summary: Materials on the Rutgers University Sexual Orientation Survey (RU SOS). This group contains records pertaining to the RU SOS carried out by Susan Cavin's class "Homosexuality and Society" during the spring semester of 1987. The first files contain a copy of the Yale Survey which formed one of the models for the RU survey, and copies of the questionnaires used. Completed surveys are divided into various groups among the campus population. A number of completed surveys have been destroyed because students, inexperienced in distributing anonymous materials, addressed questionnaires to numerous faculty members on the verso of the final page, thus revealing the source of confidential information. The files also contain Cavin's code books, drafts of the survey report and the final report, as well as miscellaneous correspondence and press reports
