Scope and Contents

Summary: Documents controversy surrounding the University of Medicine and Dentistry's (UMDNJ) proposal to offer a masters program in nursing; opposition (including CN) viewed the program as an unnecessary duplication of existing programs. Includes correspondence, reports, position papers, minutes and meeting materials of the CN, UMDNJ, the New Jersey Association of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs in Nursing, the New Jersey Board of Higher Education, the New Jersey Department of Higher Education and the New Jersey State Nurses' Association.

Also, UMDNJ preliminary program announcements, proposed program description, philosophy, and justification, and correspondence of Stanley S. Bergen, Jr., president of UMDNJ. Also documented are efforts of CN and UMDNJ to develop a joint masters program in nursing.
