Scope and Contents
Summary: The Library Correspondence, Reports, and Records series comprises more than half of the collection. Within the folders is a wide variety of information collected by Osborn during his duties as a librarian for Rutgers University. The folders contain materials common to the function of libraries, such as records of acquisitions, annual reports, library related committee information as well as records of overdue books.
In boxes 7 and 8 there is a considerable amount of information present about the much needed expansion of the Voorhees Library in 1926. Folders include documentation concerning the library construction, cost, and the dedication ceremony. Also, a federal survey of the university done in 1927, made it clear that the library still desperately needed more space and the addition was not substantial enough to have made enough of a difference.
