Ink and wash drawing of a group of irises, as seen via a worm’s eye view. Watercolor wash is fairly sparse, compared to other Lubell pieces – only grays are used, and fairly sparingly. While ink is used in the lilies and flowers in the foreground, wash is used in specific designs in the back, giving the entire floral grouping a hazy, enigmatic energy. Ink detailing can be seen on the large petals, flowers, and seeds in the front.

Upper corners of the horizon are largely devoid of line or color, with the largest concentration near the middle and lower part of the piece. The tombstones have multiple shades and tones made from a few grays and browns. Oranges, yellows, and greens are used for the uncontrolled plant life, and browns and greens for the giant, swaying trees.
