Civil War papers, 1861-1862, 1864 and 1873, of a southern New Jersey resident who served as a private (and band member) in Company E of the 28th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. The papers primarily consist of 21 letters, December 1861-September 1862, sent to his spouse in Camden County, N.J., from Maryland and Virginia, and a military journal, December 23, 1861-May 1, 1862, containing brief entries.
