The collection is comprised of three diaries with entries dating from September 23, 1917 through December 31, 1919, and January 1, 1920 through July 11, 1924. The diaries belonged to a resident of Penns Grove, Salem County, N.J. and consist of approximately 230 pages. The diarist records his agricultural activities (including tending two vegetable gardens), occasional use of his team (e.g., to haul coal), his work in a wheelwright's shop (usually with few details), and occasional travels (e.g., to Pennsville on business). Frequent comments on the weather are also included.
