Content Description
The collection is a single scrapbook kept by a resident of Millville, Cumberland County, N.J., that contains a narrative record of leisure time activities (including vacations) supplemented by items (most with annotations) mounted in the volume. Many of the events described include members of a group of young men from Millville, last together in 1929, whose names are listed at the front of the book. The materials mounted in the scrapbook (some of which are loose or were never glued down) include press clippings about sporting events, a score card, a New Jersey Forest Fire Service fire permit, a menu, a seasonal pass to an amusement park, holiday cards, invitations, postcards, an event program, and personal and family photographs. One of the narratives is actually only clipped in the volume; it is a description of a 1937 vacation that included a visit to New York City. In addition, a small number of the photographs (e.g., of Fowler as a boy) actually predate 1928, though their exact dates are unknown
