Scope and Contents
Boxes 1 and 2 are comprised of legal and financial documents of a company (of which George Wood was President and D.C. Lewis Treasurer and General Manager) that ceased business in 1923, including records (c. 1893-1900) of the Millville Rapid Transit Company (organized 1892) that it absorbed in 1900. Also present are records (1893-1894) of the South Jersey Traction Company (organized 1893; George Wood, President; Walter H. Bacon, Secretary and Treasurer). A small number of documents pertaining to the Millville Manufacturing Company are intermixed with these records and there may be a few extraneous nineteenth century land papers included, as well.
Box 3 consists of an inspection report (December 9, 1911) concerning the observed behavior of the company's conductors as well as a letter (January 4, 1913) concerning the company's relationship with the Pittsburgh-based Westinghouse Traction Brake Company.
Box 4 is comprised of retained copies of annual reports submitted to the Board of Public Utility Commissioners of the State of New Jersey.
