Biographical / Historical

Edward James Patten was a New Jersey congressman serving the 15th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives 1963 until 1981. Patten was born in Perth Amboy, NJ on August 22, 1905 and attended Rutgers University and Rutgers Law School. He was a practicing lawyer and public school teacher before entering politics in the 1930s when he became mayor of his hometown. Patten died on September 17, 1994 at the age of 89.
