Scope and Contents
Three record books of the Salem Banking Company: a stock transfer book, 1823-1834; a record of cash deposits, April 1823-December 1826; and a record of cashed checks (?), November 1837-April 1841. Two of the volumes are labeled as subscription books on their bindings, but only one of them was used briefly in 1822 for that purpose. (When first incorporated in 1822, the Salem Banking Company was known as the Salem Steam Mill and Banking Company.)
