Immediate Source of Acquisition

Materials initially held at The Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, NJ 08540, through Casey Westerman (archivist). From a 2016 email by Westerman: "We have been storing, since 2012, the professional papers of Sarah Hirschman (1921-2012). . . . Dr. Hirschman was the wife of Albert O. Hirschman, who was faculty at IAS, and whose papers were acquired by the Mudd Library at Princeton University in 2006. At that time, the Mudd Library declined to accept Sarah Hirschman's papers. After Sarah's death, when her home was sold, these papers (30 linear feet) were delivered to the Institute's Archives for safekeeping." Deed of gift (not reviewed) on file in University Librarian's office. Per transmittal document, Hirschman box numbers 3, 7, 10, 11, 12, 18 and 20 do not exist.
