Scope and Contents

This series includes material published by NAWA for members and the public. Included in this series are newsletters, brochures and forms, various iterations of the NAWA Constitution & Bylaws, Officer and committee lists, and Annual Exhibition Catalogs.

The newsletters in this series date discontinuously from 1962 through until 2009. There is a noticeable gap between 1970 and 1974, with the 1975 newsletter indicating that there had not been a newsletter published for an indeterminate amount of time. The information found in these newsletters includes NAWA news, including messages from presidents and listings of NAWA events and shows; NAWA members' news, such as awards, achievements, and exhibitions featuring NAWA members; and news of the art world in general. This series also includes newsletters from the Florida Chapter of NAWA. These date from 1997, a few years after the chapter was formed, and include news, schedules of events, and member news that is relevant to the Florida Chapter.

Included in this series are various iterations of brochures, member applications, and other forms that were created by NAWA. These generally date from the 1980s through the 2000s, and look to have been intended as a marketing tool and for prospective members to learn about NAWA.

Also included are different editions of the NAWA Constitution and Bylaws. This includes the 1923, 1939, 1947, 1970, 1989 editions as well as bylaw editions from the 2000s. These include the various iterations of the constitution and bylaws, as well as a brief history of NAWA.

There are officer and committee lists that document the officers, committee members, and jurors. These date from the 1920s through 1995, and document the names of the NAWA members who served as officers or on committees, as well as the names of jurors for the annual exhibitions.

The bulk of the Exhibtion Catalogs are from the 1940s through the 2010s, though there are catalogs from the 1920s and 1930s. Information that can be found in these catalogs includes lists of officers, members of the executive board and committees, prize winners, lists of exhibitor and members, and images of some of the artwork exhibited. Catalogs from the 2000s also include information on NAWA events and activities beyond the annual exhibition.
