Summary: Types of documents include journals, letters, notes, class notes, research papers, and correspondence. The bulk of the series is school-related materials. This series documents Lerman's activities before and outside of her professional life. It contains college and graduate school class and research notes and research papers. Her dream journals and therapeutic writings reveal inner thoughts, self-analysis, and relationship dynamics with family members and lovers. Financial and health concerns are also documented.
This series also contains genealogy and family history gathered by Lerman and notes of her family's origins in Russia. Her visit to the Ukraine and interactions with family there is documented in the series Correspondence and Photographic Materials. Lerman's files on her father Simon are found in this series, while her letters from him and condolences on his death are in Correspondence.
