Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Summary: Documentation of Cahill's interactions with various federal departments and agencies, mostly on behalf of his constituents. The departments represented in the series range from cabinet level departments of the Executive Branch, such as Agriculture, Defense and State, to the branches of the armed forces, through lesser known agencies such as the Railroad Retirement Board. Included in the series are incoming and outgoing letters, Congressional Record excerpts, memoranda and scattered transcripts of testimony, as well as departmental publications, press releases and reports.

Among the documents in this series is a sizeable amount of correspondence between Cahill and his constituents. This correspondence is typically present as stapled strings of letters consisting of an initial constituent inquiry, Cahill's responses and letters to and from departments to which the inquiry was referred. Occasionally included with the correspondence are attachments in the form of published departmental reports and publications.
