Summary: Documentation related to a Congressional investigation into the automobile insurance industry spearheaded by Cahill. Included in the series are bills, hearing transcripts, committee prints, incoming and outgoing letters, journal articles, newsletters, press clippings, press kits, press releases, speeches and television transcripts.
Among the documents in the series are letters regarding proposed appearances by Cahill on public television and on CBS with Walter Cronkite in 1967. The files on the "Cahill Plan" relate to House Joint Resolution 958, which proposed to officially open an investigation of the insurance industry, as well as Cahill's critiques of and amendments to the resolution.
The bills in this series originated in the United States House of Representatives and Senate, as well as the New Jersey Assembly, although none of them were introduced by Cahill. Additional proposed legislation can be found in BILLS FILES, LEGISLATIVE FILES, and JUDICIARY COMMITTEE FILES.
