Gouache portrait (with pink and blue ink) of a family walking on a road to what appears to be a rocky beach that is not too dissimilar from other Lubell drawings of beachfront areas. Grass and reeds by the side of the road are massive, and ships and outcroppings can be seen in the water. While some minor ink details are used, most of the energy of this piece comes from the oscillation of the flora, and the greater sense of motion. Signed Milius. Painted on illustration board. Lubell 138-146 are of similar subjects and dates, with the medium for some focusing more on gouache or watercolor and others more on line drawings in pen or graphite pencil.
