Lubell 10/5: 145
Watercolor (with ink and wash) of a group of children playing in a natural pond. One child is lying on a wooden pier, while two others are playing on a purple boat. Sharp pen lines are used less for borders than definition, giving detail to wooden planks and shadows at the water's surface. Two other people, possibly their parents or caretakers, swim further off at the left edge of the page. Possibly because of the total lack of black colors or any kind of border, the image looks clean and distinctly bright. Signed W. Milius. Painted on illustration board. Lubell 138-146 are of similar subjects and dates, with the medium for some focusing more on gouache or watercolor and others more on line drawings in pen or graphite pencil.
