Lubell 10/4: 142
Gouache on board of a visually unclear scene, which appears to be a group of children working on snowmen in the clearing of a large forest. Large swaths of dark blue and grey for the sky (along with use on the right and bottom side, making it something of a 3-sided border) create a sense of claustrophobia. Interestingly, there seems to be no ink actually used in this piece; details from the gouache are still there, such as the glimpses of light brown trees emerging from the background or what might be a small animal with the kids, but the appearance is more impressionistic than other Lubell gouache or watercolor pieces.
