Matted ink drawing (with gouache and [crayon?]) of a young woman standing on rock peak, brandishing a broom and holding a dishpan. Other women holding pots are with her. Accent colors red and yellow. Mat scored in graphite to frame the image. The title, stricken, continues: “She had grabbed a red petticoat and slipped it over a thick cotton night gown. She wore a black stocking and a white one. She had tied a little red-fringed shawl over her wild red hair. Her face was red and her eyes were mad. I looked at her and felt that she could raise a rumpus.” Notation in lower left, also stricken: “Chapter 7 (see page 2).” Signed W.M.
