Scope and Contents
Summary: Miriam Schapiro was involved as a founding member, a member, a board member, or a consultant for the College Art Association, the West East Bag, Womanspace, the Women's Caucus for Art, Everywoman, the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art, the New York Feminist Art Institute, Heresies, Pattern and Decoration Group, the National Association of Women Artists, and the National Academy of Design. This series contains records of several of the groups. Some, like West East Bag, contain collected material past the time that Schapiro was involved with it. Arrangement
Arrangement: Following original order the series is arranged chronologically by year. However, institutional files were kept together, meaning all of College Art Association's files (1969 though 2001) are grouped together starting in 1969; all of Womanspace files are grouped together starting circa 1972.
