Scope and Contents
Lubell 3/11: 192
An ink and wash drawing (with gouache) of an urban landscape, with a train coming through in the foreground. This piece was one of three in a folder labelled “Drawings Milltown, Newburgh NY, 1940.” While all three have different compositions and colors and use of space, all feature stark spaces filled with buildings and architecture but almost devoid of people. A black train passing through the brown, beige, and white cityscape is a central element to the Lubell 190 and 193.
