Lubell 3/9: 178
One of eight ink drawings of people participating in a WPA sit-in strike, and originally housed in a folder labelled “Sit-down strike 1935 or ’36, Chicago”. Each is of a different subject, but all are similar designs, with thick black lines and little shading. This is of a woman sitting on the ground drawing, with someone sleeping against a wall in the background. White gouache covers changes in the design. Partial pencil sketches on verso. See Lubell 172-181 for drawings in the Chicago sit-in, sit-down strike or sit-in protest.
