Dates

  • [1939]

Scope and Contents

Lubell 3/7: 167

One of eight black ink and wash drawings (with gouache) from a folder titled Spanish Ballet Costumes, with an additional notation “for Benjamin Zemach, N.Y.C., 1939.” These drawings are of various characters and costumes, presumably done for a New York performance piece. Each identifies the character portrayed. This piece, identified by the names of the characters, is a drawing of four men in berets, black pants and cummerbunds, each holding a different pose. The character names are written below each: Kilia, Milton, Ben and Izzy. “OK” is penciled in the upper left corner. See Lubell 164-171 for similar drawings.
