Scope and Contents

Lubell 3/7: 165

One of eight black ink and wash drawings (with gouache) from a folder titled Spanish Ballet Costumes, with an additional notation “for Benjamin Zemach, N.Y.C., 1939.” These drawings are of various characters and costumes, presumably done for a New York performance piece. Each identifies the character portrayed. This piece, identified as Gertrude, is of two women wearing blouse, skirt, socks and head scarf. The clothing of one is colored yellow ochre and blue, while the other is only an ink outline. Signed Milius. See Lubell 164-171 for similar drawings.
