Collage of Baubo distracting Demeter from her loss of Persephone. Made from multiple materials, including what appear to be paint, gold or brass paper, a photograph of a statue of Demeter, wallpaper, and a piece of string simulating the collar on Demeter’s pet (possibly a jaguar). A cut exists in the middle grey paper, forming the front of a female figure in the background. Signed Winifred Milius Lubell. A note taped to the back of the original mounting reads “Goddess at Offering Table, Basalt, Neo-Hittite, 9th – 8th Cen. B.C.E., Museum fine Arts, Boston.
