Scope and Contents

Summary: This series focuses on what girls and women are taught about their career options and opportunities. Some of the materials in this series include articles and pamphlets regarding discrimination in women's employment opportunities, the history of WOWI's publication on sexism in career education materials-entitled Help Wanted-and guidelines for gender neutral vocational education materials. Document types include original drafts, contracts, slide show permission forms, pamphlets, and booklets.

Of interest among these documents are brochures produced by the U.S. Department of Labor, from the late 1960s and early 1970s, which encourage women to enter traditionally male-dominated fields such as environmental conservation, urban planning, pharmacy, mathematics, and engineering.
