Scope and Contents

Summary: Documents CR's interest in the theories and principals of general mechanics and products related to the measurement of thickness, volume, time, velocity, force, pressure, length, density, viscosity, fluid motion, vacuums, and humidity. Also documents CR's product testing of instruments measuring pressure, length, time, and the weather. Projects include rules or tape measures, timers, stopwatches and clocks, and physical testing equipment. Includes correspondence, notes, newspaper and magazine clippings and advertisements. Instruments tested or researched include micrometers, various measuring apparatus, calipers, tachometers, dynamometers, pressure gauge testers, manometers, liquid & air pressure gauges, micromanometers, levels, and weather instruments such as barometers and hygrometers. Also includes measurement of geometric and mechanical magnitudes (metric).
