Summary: Documents CR's research and testing of dry cell or flashlight batteries, storage batteries, battery chargers, and battery additives for automobile batteries such as AD-X2 Subjects include CR's campaign against the additive AD-X2 and its producer Jess M. Ritchie of Pioneers Inc., U.S. Senate Select Committee on Small Business investigations, (hearings and transcripts) the controversial firing and subsequent rehiring of Bureau of Standards head, Alan V. Astin by Eisenhower's Secretary of Commerce, Sinclair Weeks in 1953, the involvement of the Better Business Bureau, reports and correspondence with the Bureau of Standards, a report of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Jeffries Committee of the National Academy of Sciences and the lawsuit brought against CR by Pioneers Inc. Included is correspondence, battery packages, project materials, testing materials, press releases, many newsclippings, copies of court documents, congressional and other reports, and manuscripts of F.J. Schlink's testimony and editorials. Other subjects include battery hazards, dry cell batteries, dry cell battery maintenance, storage batteries projects, battery chargers, alkaline accumulators, regeneration of storage batteries, and brands of battery additives other than AD-X2.
