Summary: Documents the activities of preparing each issue for publication. Documents pertain to sections of each issue: editorials, articles, book reviews, archives, about the contributors, friends of SIGNS. Included in the papers are correspondence, tables of contents, lists of forthcoming articles, off-print requests and order forms, memoranda, handwritten and typed notes, journal make-up orders, editorials, article routing forms, referee comments (readers reports), photo reproduction requests, photo invoices, postcards, reprints of reviews, manuscripts, reproduction requests, article copies, title pages, an occasional manuscripts, page proofs, galley charts, copies of cover and mast head, 3 x 5 cards for each article and author, publication agreement, tallies, expense reports, occasional magazines.

Among the documents are unprinted photographs and charts. For example, charts never printed accompanied Carroll Smith Rosenberg's "Female World of Love and Ritual." See issue files for vol. 1 no. 1.
