ELECTION FILES,, 1872, 1874-1875, 1887-1888

Summary: A total of four folders, these are election accounts presumably relating to Mr. Phelps. One is from Morris County in 1872, which may tell us that Mr. Phelps was running as Congressman during this period. (It should be noted that Mr. Phelps' first term as Congressman from New Jersey was in the Forty-third Congress, which began in the year 1872.) The other election accounts we cannot quite deduce what they mean. By 1886 Mr. Phelps decided not to rnn again for his congressional seat, so the election accounts we have may tell us he was helping or contributing to another individual's campaign. There is also a broadside dated 1872 which has Mr. Phelps' name on it.
