PUBLICITY CHAIR'S FILES,, 1990-1992.

Dates

  • 1990-1992.

Scope and Contents

Summary: Documentation of the activities of Sisters in Crime's publicity chair, Linda Grant, during the years she served in this capacity. The records contain information regarding Grant's involvement in the planning for maintaining booths at major conventions, a bibliography project meant to outline the work of women mystery writers, proposed by-laws changes, various publicity efforts and steering committee issues. Included in the records are correspondence, flyers, pamphlets, cards, news clippings and press releases.

Of particular interest are incoming memoranda from the steering committee that reflect the role and relationship of one officer within the committee as a whole. Also, within the Correspondence folder is the Report of Findings from a survey undertaken to "provide a group portrait, a composite picture of female authors and their protagonists," which was conducted jointly by the Sisters in Crime and the National Women's History Project. Within this series are documents postdating Grant's service as publicity chair that relate to her contributions towards the planning of and her participation in the American Library Association's 1992 convention. Also postdating her official term is information relating to her efforts towards the bibliography project. Although she held no office while these records were created, she was editing the Sisters in Crime publication Shameless Promotion for Brazen Hussies during this period.
