  • 1992-1994.

Scope and Contents

Summary: Documentation of the activities of Sisters in Crime's newsletter editor, Margaret Maron, during the years she served in this capacity. The records contain suggestions, complaints, article submissions and announcements to be included in the newsletter. Included in the records are correspondence, newspaper clippings, newsletters and cards.

Of particular interest is a memorandum within the Miscellaneous folder that discusses Sisters in Crime's intention to promote the creation of a White House Mystery Library by donating mystery novels to the White House after reports surfaced stating that President Clinton was a mystery enthusiast. In addition, the Executive Editor folder demonstrates through correspondence how this new position was created to assist the incoming editor with the transition. The files also contain several chapter newsletters, which demonstrate activities taking place on the local level.
