Scope and Contents

Summary: Internal and external publications of the organization Sisters in Crime. These publications pertain to a variety of subjects, including a) promoting Sisters in Crime; b) promoting members' books; c) assisting members in their own publishing and promotional efforts; d) creating a record of Sisters in Crime members for the organization and other members; and e) providing members with a newsletter of pertinent information regarding the organization and the field. The records consist of pamphlets, flyers, newsletters, letters and larger publications.

Of particular interest is the Sisters in Crime Newsletter, which dates from 1988-2004, and provides a wealth of information about the activities of the organization. Published four times a year by 1993, the newsletter usually includes a letter or article from the president regarding the state of the organization, news from special interest groups and local chapters, and information on new projects and updates on the progress of ongoing ones. It also provides members with information regarding upcoming conferences and new publicity ideas and contacts. In addition, the publications Breaking and Entering, So You're Going to do an Author Signing, and Shameless Promotion for Brazen Hussies, demonstrate how particular Sisters in Crime authors attacked the hardships of their field by providing these collections of helpful hints and suggestions for new authors regarding publishing and publicity.

Also included in this series under Miscellaneous are printed materials in the form of general welcome letters from presidents distributed to new members, membership and welcome information, and announcements of members who have been nominated for awards.
