Scope and Contents
Arranged alphabetically by folder heading. Records of the Career Advancement Committee, correspondence and memoranda, miscellaneous items, and public relations.
The Career Advancement Committee folder contains handwritten documents that were produced by the Career Advancement Committee. These records date from 1954 to 1959 and 1963. Included are a list of programs from 1954/55 to 1957/58, a sheet of planning notes, an annual report dated May 12, 1958, notes from a meeting dated September 14, 1959, and a summary of a meeting held in 1963.
The Correspondence and Memoranda folder contains handwritten and typed memoranda and correspondence to and from members of the Somerset BPW dating from 1969 to 1981. This material covers general club business and announcements. The document dated January 5, 1994 is a brief history of the Somerset BPW that was completed for the NJFBPWC 75th Anniversary Yearbook.
The Miscellaneous Items folder contains documents covering a range of activities. Most of the documents are typed, but one is handwritten on an envelope. Included is a 1968 Policy and Procedures Manual from the NJFBPWC, an itinerary for a bus tour dated November 1, 1969, a handout dated November 4, 1969, encouraging Somerset BPW members to vote, an envelope covered in handwritten notes that appear to provide program highlights from 1948 to 1979, a program for Eleen Schafle's memorial service dated October 11, 1992, and two undated sheets printed with the club and federation pledges and an international prayer.
The Public Relations folder contains documents from 1973 and 1974 that record the Somerset BPW's efforts to make itself known in the community. Records consist largely of typed press releases. Releases and clippings document meeting announcements and the election and installation of officers. Also included are two pieces of correspondence between the Somerset BPW and WBRW Radio arranging for a club member to appear on one of their radio programs.
