Favor of 22nd and papers received. Report on negotiation to effect that Messrs. Livingston's have been again with old Cerberus and he has already backed out in part this is Vanderbilt's work no doubt, we shall pursue it the moment we hear from his son the Messrs. Livingston1s are warmly enlisted in it. Refers to a paragraph puffing off the new boat to be followed. Comment on cartment including payment of $50 a month for Brown and his cart. Plans for going to Washington to hunt up Mr. Pinkney's brief and to arrange for mail contract thwarted by indisposition and the burning of Rhind's left hand at the shops. Lynch will go in course of ten days or fortnight. Report on the condition of all the boats with diverse position of the water wheel shafts in our boots and in East River and the Olive Branch noted end sent to the Commodore for his opinion. Postscript: Mr. Emmet goes to Washington on Wednesday.
