Scope and Contents
Favor of 18th received. Steamboat case not to come up this season so we have another year and the addition of a Judge who will be in our favor. Judge Thompson or either of the three formerly mentioned will be equally good. Discussion of post master general and the mail contract. No prospect of River opening yet but by Saturday week the boat is expected to reach Albany. Should be a board meeting as soon as River is open and have written to Mr. Livingston to that effect. New boat to be launched the 20th. Discussion of name to give her with suggestions of the Kent, the New York, and Grand Canal. Allaire has called the small boat he is now making the Chancellor Kent.
