Scope and Contents

Copy of Mr. Woods speech being sent and advice given that it be shown Judge Spencer and Chancellor Kent. Also suggested that 500 copies of it be printed and disseminated, should any attack be meditated at Albany. Discussion of new boat and fact that the Messrs. Livingston can not see their own interest, contracts for the copper and engine. Mention of McQueen and Allaire. Possibility of R.L. backing out or withdrawing his support for new boat. Report of condition of Richmond, Fly and Chancellor. No letters from Washington but shall send word daily. Annexed: "Statement of the affairs of the North River Steam Boat Company for 1822. New York. 1 Jany 1823 Chas Rhind Agnt".
