Favor of 27th with Mr. Sullivan's pamphlet received, with unfavorable comment thereon And wish for knowledge of prospect of procuring subscribers in Troy to his tow-boat plan. Refers to Mr. Erleth and need for a machine to clear the channel with possibility of arrangeing a contract with Mr. E. to do the work. Information asked concerning employment of Hanby. Report of progress of repairs on old boats and Blossom's work on new boat. Will send estimates for engine and boilder for new boat from Carson & McQueen and will apply to Allaire if you desire. Discussion with Hendricks about the copper and its cost. Mr. Emmet went to Washington Wednesday and Oakley will go soon, with comment on coming question and possible decision. Reminder about mud-machine. Postscript: Discovery of additional repairs needed on Chancellor with statement that Mr. Thomson will attend.
