Livingston and their views respecting preparations for repairs in latter end of winter. Thompson to confer with the Townsends on propriety of making preparations for building a new boat in course of next year. With him principal objection is situation of Dale and his family which requires all the funds which can possibly be drawn from the stock. Urges another boat be built now, commenting on inertia of some of the directors, which in case of the exclusive right being annulled, will give their adversaries a decided advantage over them. They will at once be opposed by swift boats of superior accommodations. End of season it will be too late to put down opposition, the reputation of the new line will be established.
